Counselling

Bereavement is not an illness but a natural part of our life experience. Many of us cope well with the support of friends and family. However, for various reasons, some of us experience grief as complex or traumatic, making it particularly hard to live with and then it can be useful to get some extra help. There are bereavement charities who offer free support, such as Cruse Bereavement Care, as well as other national and local charities which can usually be found online or through your GP.

I have worked professionally as a counsellor since 2007, in private practice as well as school and university settings. One of my special interests has always been bereavement and in 2004 I was trained by Cruse Bereavement Care to be a Bereavement Volunteer and over the next 19 years I worked with hundreds of bereaved people of all ages and all kinds of bereavement. I also supervised colleagues and trained new volunteers.

I retired from Cruse recently but am still working as a fully qualified and accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). You are welcome to contact me for counselling if you wish, though I would always recommend trying the free options first, as this may well meet your needs.
